It happened 8 yrs ago when Dr. Jenn and her wife Kelly first met…

It started with a decision they made as they got to know each other; after Dr. Jenn told Kelly she was not interested in dating, being in a relationship, and was never getting married again, and all after Dr. Jenn gave Kelly a long list of reasons that Kelly shouldn’t be interested in anything more than friendship. And to top it all off, Dr. Jenn told Kelly to go out and date other people.

As they spent time together, Dr. Jenn realized that despite all her objections to dating, relationships, and marriage because these had failed in the past, there was something special between her and Kel. Something she WAS possibly interested in pursuing as long as we didn’t date, enter a relationship and that Kelly knew marriage was off the table.

Dr. Jenn proposed that to avoid repeating old relationship patterns, that hadn’t worked for either one of them, that they create their own description, their own language for moving forward together.

After a few weeks of talking, using a dictionary and thesaurus, along with some trial and error, FLIA was created. Dr. Jenn and Kelly set out on their fun, loving, intentional adventure.

They consider their a relationship a huge success! And they attribute it to FLIA- their fun, loving, intentional adventure and the attention, focus and communication to create it.

Dr Jenn and Kelly set out right from the beginning of their relationship to communicate and create something different.

That set the foundation for their decision to create a life based on FLIA; choosing to live their life intentionally together as an adventure based on finding the fun and joy in their life and showing up in love for themselves and each other,

They will tell you that their relationship is not perfect. They disagree, argue and fight and yet they come back to the foundation of FLIA to support them in what they consider a strong, healthy, successful partnership that they agree gets better and better each year, through good times and hard.

FLIA is so much more than a phrase.

It is more than just their relationship.

It is the foundation and intentional way Dr. Jenn and Kelly create and choose to live their lives.
